Rent relief, vaccine eligibility and other state updates as of April 2021Apr 12, 2021 03:53PM ● By Paul Spear
Spring has sprung, and our legislative session has picked up speed! This month, my colleagues and I passed important legislative packages aimed at assisting renters and landlords with unpaid rent, laying groundwork and funding to get our children safely back to in-person instruction, and more. We passed resolutions condemning the rise in violence and acts of hatred against members of the AAPI community, and recognizing March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
This month, we celebrate Women's History Month. Women have been hit disproportionately hard by job losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, and many essential front-line jobs are also dominated by women. This year, let us renew our commitment to working toward gender parity and reaffirm that women are essential - now and always!
We also observe Cesar Chavez Day in March, which honors the legacy of the prominent civil rights and labor movement activist. I encourage you to join me in honoring Cesar Chavez's life and work by taking some time to volunteer and help our community this holiday.
As always, if you have questions or need assistance with a state matter, please do not hesitate to reach out.
