Congratulations to Maud Mulvany and Iliasha Dickes of Central School
Maud Mulvany, an Education Specialist at Central, has been nominated for a 2018-2019 national LifeChanger of the Year award.
Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, the National LifeChanger of the Year program recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 public and private school educators and employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.
Maud was nominated by Principal Cori Herbst-Loehr in recognition of her consistent practice of putting student needs first and building a classroom environment in which all scholars thrive. "Maud is, without a doubt, her students' loudest and most supportive champion," said Principal Herbst-Loehr. "She develops thoughtful citizens of the world, and we are proud that she chooses to teach in South Bay."
Each school year, the LifeChanger of the Year program receives hundreds of nominations. For 2018-2019, there will be a total of seventeen LifeChanger of the Year awards. Each winner will receive a cash award that is split between the individual winner and their school. Winners are announced via surprise award ceremonies held at their schools. Winners will be announced in the spring.
Winners will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of former winners and education professionals. Award winners are selected based on the following criteria:
- A proven ability to make a beneficial difference in the lives of students.
- An ability to positively add to the development of the school's atmosphere.
- Is involved in leadership activities at the school and/or community level.
- A demonstrative record of excellent performance at the professional level.
- A commitment to producing a nurturing atmosphere.
- Adherence to high moral and ethical standards.

Congratulations to Iliasha Dickes (Kindergarten teacher at Central School) for being selected to receive a Class Acts classroom visit. On September 17, Mission Federal Credit Union, JAM'N 957, and representatives from the San Diego County Office of Education visited Ms. Dickes' classroom to celebrate her. She received a $200 gift card to buy educational supplies and her classroom received tablet devices. She and her students were also interviewed on the Pablo show on JAM"N 957. Congratulations!
