Military Service Dog Memorial Statue Unveiling set for Veterans Park Saturday, November 9th!

Unveiling of the Military Service Dog Memorial Statue

(IMPERIAL BEACH, CA – October 2, 2019) The City of Imperial Beach is unveiling the Military Service Dog Memorial Statue in Veterans Park on November 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

We encourage the community to join us in celebrating the unveiling of a bronze statue in Veterans Park that recognizes the dedication of military service dogs. The new statue depicts Chopper, “The Navy SEAL Dog,” and recognizes his handler, and local Navy SEAL veteran, Trevor Maroshek.

Chopper was there for his handler, Trevor, as both a service dog during their time in service, and a support companion after facing combat. After retiring as a Navy SEAL, Trevor was inspired to create the Seal Dog Foundation, a nonprofit that provides support veterans and their families with specially trained service dogs for veterans with combat-related injuries. The statue that will find its home in Veterans Park, is symbolic to the heroism of our veterans, human and canine.

Funding for the statue was generously donated by the Navy SEAL Museum Foundation.
