My Rainy Afternoon Kicking it with Peter Holder and Talking Old Imperial Beach and Some Old Holder Family Photos.

(Note: This is a reprint of an article published 3 years ago.)

I spent an hour or two today with Peter Holder one of the sons of Imperial Beach Legend

Dempsey Holder. We took in a few photos while discussing a little bit about each. In the photo above, when you see it full size you will see a 7 year old Peter Holder peeking through the middle of the photo down at the bottom.

We talked about how he married his 10th grade and high school sweetheart Debbie (see photo) and how they were in a band together making music with peter on the guitar. He brought his guitar and played a little bit as I was scanning in photos to share with you.

Peter graduated from Mar Vista High School in 1971. So we grew up in the same era although I am from Redondo Beach. he still likes to record his music and is living in Carlsbad although he has plans to move to Imperial Beach and resume his Real Estate career.

He said he almost cried when he saw all the cement on Palm Avenue.  A far cry from what Imperial Beach used to look like.

He shared how during the 5th year of the Dempsey Holder Surf Festival how there was a party the night before at the Nature Center at the Estuary and all the surf legends showed up and they had a band playing and how much fun it was.

So please enjoy his photos and know that more will be on the way someday.

A big "Thank you" to Peter Holder for sharing his family with us and I know I an very excited about the next installment.
