A Look Into Imperial Beach Music Scene For The Month of August

                                                       As the Beat Goes On

It’s August, it’s hot outside, so let’s get right to it. Starting off at Mike Hess Brewing Company on Saturday, August 3 is the Can-Ams from Imperial Beach covering all your favorite songs starting at 4:00 pm. On Sunday, August 4 at Mike Hess Brewing Company is Green Madame Trio playing some Jazz, Blues, and R&B. starting at 1:00pm.  That night Hometown Jazz man Jason Hanna’s Jazz Quartet is with DJ Jecs at the Salty Frog so get your dancing shoes beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Last month I gave hints who the featured musician would be this month. If you guessed Allen

Camp, you guessed right! Allen is an I.B. local who is a professional singer, guitar player, songwriter and president of ARC Productions. Known by his peers as the hardest working man in the business. His band Fuzz-Huzzi has been around since 1993 with different line- up changes throughout the years. His side projects include Allen Camp & Friends; Fuzz- Huzzi Topic and ARC Artist Relations Collective on You Tube; Breakfast with Mr. Camp on Facebook; ARC Records; and ARC Radio, Fuzz- Huzzi and Allen Camp on Spotify. New singles from Fuzz-Huzzi titled Ghost and a Tom Petty cover of Won’t Back Down created a resurgence for Fuzz-Huzzi. They are close to releasing the next single and are working on new material for an upcoming album. His side project Allen Camp & Friends released 2 new singles this year titled “She’s a Rocket and Give You My

Heart. All recorded at his long-time friend and partner of ARC Productions Cory Wilkens at Ears Only Audio in El Cajon.  Allen recently got the fellas back together from Suckerfish to do an upcoming 20-year reunion show. In 2017, Allen created the Artist Relations Collective known as ARC Productions. A lot had to do with the way the music scene has changed over the years. Allen took on commitments to bands and musicians. More importantly, he wanted a family atmosphere where everyone supports each other and has a level of respect for everyone involved. Henry Ford once said, “coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success”. Allen is promoting, supporting and organizing bands and musician’s schedules. With help from Cory Wilkins owner of Ears Only Audio, bands and musicians can take their time and get their recordings done right. Not having to worry about how much it costs for studio time or whatever financial burdens they may have, is a huge stress relief for everyone involved.  Allen knows how hard it is for bands and musicians to get ahead and stay on top of all their endeavors.

Allen is hosting his annual Birthday Bash along with Radgascar this month at the Salty Frog. Each event will feature bands and musicians he is working with. Coming together and showing support is what it’s all about. On Friday, August 9 at 8 pm, Allen Camps Birthday Bash Pizza Party weekend kicks off with Wet, the return of Suckerfish, Come Out Fighting (from Detroit) and Fuzz-Huzzi.

On August 10, stop by for a fun Saturday afternoon hosted by The Whatevers at Mike Hess Brewing Company at 3:00 pm. After that head back to the Salty Frog to continue Allen Camps Birthday Bash Potluck with Bitter Kiddos, Koda, Oliver James, SouthTowne Sham, War Fever, Gurschach (from San Francisco), Mind Divided and Endo Stays Baked -- the mayhem starts at 8:00 pm. Closing Allen Camps Birthday Bash at the Salty Frog on Sunday, August 11 is The Tale, 13 Past 13, My Two Eyes and Art Disposal starting at 2:00 pm.
