As the Beat Goes On! A look into Imperial Beach Music for the Month of June!

Its June, summer is officially here. Kicking things off at the Salty Frog, Sunday, June 2 is hometown jazz man Jason Hanna Jazz Quartet with DJ Jecs get your dancing shoes on starts at 9:00 p.m. Friday June 7 Australian artist Jamie-Lee Dimes playing some folk-melancholy tracks supporting the release of her fourth record and currently touring the U.S. on her “Waste of Time Tour”. She is brining Heirgloom, Jesse Valadez and Dragon Dragon along for the ride, the party starts at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8 is the Cali-Baja Arts Festival at Veterans Park from 11:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. This unique festival showcases 20 artist and vendors from the northern Baja region. They will be showing and selling paintings, sculptures and native crafts as well as local artist sharing their art with the community. Live music will be throughout the day by Ignant Benches, Max Greenhalgh, The Banduvloons, Velvet Dinner Party, Fresh Play Trio, The Moneymen, Juan Castellon, Jeff Norris, Mariachi Divinas. Rumor has it closing out the festival is Imperial Beaches favorite rock/ metal band D.A.B. The South Bay Cruiser Car Club will be showing off their rides. Food trucks will provide the curb. The night continues with the featured bands of the month at the Salty Frog. Aunt Cynthia’s Cabin. This trio has a psychedelic California desert rock sound. Their latest single Mud Room #13 is a groovy tune that will take you on a journey and make your head spin all at once. Enjoy the trip with these guys. The Woodworks are a fun bunch in support if their live album “Working”. Released in 2018 with four albums under their belt its high energy, soulful tunes hit one after another. The legendary Evan Diamond and the Library and their EP” Intersection” is an electric indie rock, R&B infused masterpiece. Evan Diamond also does acoustic sets leaving no time to rest. Evan has been featured on 91X, performing on KUSI News and opened for Broadway star Megan Hilty. It’s really exciting to hear she will be playing at the Salty Frog. This line up is jammed packed. Get their early, this place is going to be wild, starts at 9:00 pm. The following Friday, June 14 Hell’er Highwaters comes down. Sing along to your favorite sixty’s music such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eagles, The Doors you get the picture. It’s going to be a good time. Seaside Candy announced every third Saturday starting June 15 they are hosting an all-ages karaoke night. Get your brave souls out there from 4:00 pm till 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 come back to Seaside Candy for Open Mic Night. It is getting a lot of buzz; you never know who will pop in starts at 6:00 p.m. Back at the Salty Frog on Friday June 28 for B squared Punk Night with Nuclear Tourism from Athens Georgia, their surf punk sound is perfect for this beach town. Check out their latest album “Scraping By”. Vote for them on Flagpole’s 2019 Upstart of the Year by going to Imperial Beaches very own punk rockers Turtle Click will be opening for them. They put out a 6 song EP “Put out of Misery” in 2018.They are currently on teamwork music label playing around town. Get their early slam dancing starts at 9:00 p.m.
