Two Local Brothers, Ernesto Villaruel and Esteban Villaruel, Karate Students Win in Regional Karate Tournament held in Imperial Beach and Advanced to National Karate Championship in Chicago in July! The regionals competition had over 100 competitors from Southern California and the Imperial Valley.

Ernesto Villaruel took 3rd place in Kata and Kumite in the 10-12 years old division while his brother Esteban Villaruel won 1st place in Kumite and took 3rd place in Kata.
Esteban won his division 8-9 years old. He was very efficient due to his diligent work at the Dojo

The Brothers are students of Inoue Ha Karate-Do in Imperial Beach. Inoue Ha Karate-Do has an excellent record of success with their teaching with their students winning awards year after year.

Recently Inoue Ha Karate-Do School has fallen on some hard times. Before teaching their classes at
the Boys & Girls Club Class here in IB, they had been on 13th St near Palm Avenue where they had been located for many years. However, they lost their lease there and they moved to the Boys & Girls Club last year. However, due to the remodeling of the Clubhouse and its delayed opening classes are no longer able to be taught there and they have no official site for their classes. Despite these hardships, the school continues to turn out winners. A big congratulations to the school and of course congratulations to Ernesto Villaruel and Esteban Villaruel for representing Imperial Beach and their advancement to the National Finals!!!

The tournament was held at the Imperial Beach Sports Park with the support of the Boys &Girls Club which will be letting them practice at the facility in preparation for the National Competition.
A GoFundMe page will be SET-UP soon to help support sending our local kids in their quest to become National Champions. We will report on that As Soon As Possible.
