Location description: Morrison Pond is a small trail located within the Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. This short trail loops around Morrison Pond.
Meeting Location: We will meet just south of the parking lot at 5102 Sweetwater Rd, Bonita, CA 91902.
Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo!
Driving directions: (Bonita) Take I-5 south to CA-54 east and go 4.4 miles. Take Exit 5 for Briarwood Road and turn right. In 0.6 mile, turn left onto Sweetwater Road. The park entrance will be on your right about 200 feet after making the turn onto Sweetwater Road, designated by a Sweetwater Regional Summit Park sign.
Suggested parking: This park offers a dirt lot with limited spaces. This lot is located at 5102 Sweetwater Rd, Bonita, CA 91902. Nearest Trail head and Restrooms to meeting location: Unfortunately this location does not offer restrooms so guests should plan accordingly. Water is available at trailhead.
Program description: Join us as we discover the bugs and animals that call Morrison Pond home! Help us search for turtles, birds, and bugs as we take a guided walk around the pond. Some bird species commonly seen here include great blue heron, great egrets and coots. This hike will take place along a dirt trail with some dips, but no real inclines. We will focus on looking at the species that live near the pond, and why this habitat is so unique.
Program Time: Our hikes will begin at 9am and will last until approximately 10:30 am. Hike lengths: This locations hike will go along Morrison and will be approximately 1 mile in length.
