The Third Annual Imperial Beach Military Appreciation Day is a community-wide fun event, open to everybody. The City of Imperial Beach began the special event in 2015 to recognize our military community members and their families. In 2016, the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce, Business Improvement District, and business leaders teamed with the three local Veteran’s organizations to continue the tradition. The Fleet Reserve Association Branch 289, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5477 and American Legion Post 820 are all major participants in the planning and conduct of this very family oriented celebration.
The music will be great. Bring your chairs and enjoy a full afternoon of live music.
The concert begins at noon with Velvet Café 12:30 to 1:30 followed by Coral Bells from 2:00 to 3:45pm. Their high energy acoustic Americana setlist never fails to wow the crowd. Wonderful to have this great band back with us this year. Coralbellsband.com
There may even be a special encore performance to include some IB Veterans, along with actual legitimate musicians, so look for that.
The FRA, VFW and American Legion are joining together in providing the “cook-out” for the event. Hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Donations graciously accepted.
Last year featured a Kids Zone will include a bounce house and kids games will be provided by the Boys and Girls Club. The Bull Pen Tavern provided the beer garden.
Community exhibitions included the IB Women’s Club, IB Historical Society, South Bay Urgent Care (flu shots available on site!) and many others.
Please join us as we recognize and celebrate the important contributions of our IB military community. It will be a fun afternoon for the entire family!
