Update on Pump Station CILA as Approximately 1.6 million gallons Crossed into the US on October 19th and was Temporarily Contained by the Berms at the International Boundary.

Mexico informed us today (Friday, October 19, 2018) that significant trash build up at the intake to the Pump Station CILA this morning resulted in the bypass of water from the Tijuana River to the US. The water (approximately 1.6 million gallons) crossed into the US and was temporarily contained by the berms at the International Boundary. However, the water breached the berms at approximately 8:00 am. Mexico worked immediately to get the pump stains fully functional within the hour. With the dry conditions of the USIBWC Flood Control Project, the water did not cross Dairy Mart Road (see attached picture). The US Section crews are working through the evening to restore the berms..
