Job Summary The Bilingual Education Instructor will be primarily responsible for translation of program materials and instruction of both onsite and offsite public events teaching about human impact on watersheds in both English and Spanish. Programs will happen primarily in spring and summer season with heavier program days on weekends. This position will also be assigned general education programs as needed.

Programs include, but are not limited to: day camps, scout programs, overnight adventures, outreaches, and onsite school group field trips. This is a year-round, hourly, non-benefited position. This position reports directly to the Director of Education.

Rate: $12.00 – 13.00/hr Required Qualifications

 Fluent in English/Spanish
 B.A./B.S. in Biology, Education, or related field
 Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a classroom, science center, zoo, or nature center  Proven proficiency instructing and coordinating school and public-based audiences, in classroom and field
 CPR/First Aid Certified
 Must have a general knowledge of local species (flora and fauna)
 Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with excellent attention to detail
 Proven ability to work in a team or independent environment
 Experience working with audiences of diverse ages and ethnicities
 Experience writing and developing curriculums for either school or public-based programs
 Valid driver’s license

Preferred Skills
 Animal handling experience – marine species, reptiles and/or birds of prey
 Proficient with computer programs such as, Microsoft Office® Suite, Adobe®, Outlook, Google, or other management programs.

Ability to:
 Effectively present to a variety of age groups using interpretive techniques
 Instruct programs utilizing written curricula
 Effectively supervise groups of up to 50 people
 Interpret rules and regulations; follow all safety protocols
 Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, to staff, volunteers, and guests
 Assess and evaluate situations effectively
 Take initiative with minimal supervision
 Respond in a calm manner to emergencies

Working Environment
 The position is in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment that requires the ability to multi-task and respondquickly.
 Much of the work takes place at offsite locations or onsite during business hours.  Some of the work may take place after open hours and while dark.
 Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
