IB Farmer's Market to be Closed September 14th due to Superfrog. Candidates Forum Search for New Date as September 11th Forum Gets Postponed

Aug 31, 2018 02:23PM ● By Paul Spear
The Beach Imperial Beach Certified Farmers Market will be closed Friday, September 14th due to the Frogman competition which will be having events before their race on Sunday the 16th. Said Kim Paris, who runs the Farmers Market, "The City tried to sit down with us and negotiated in good faith and offered too let us move over to Dunes Park." However, Kim went on to say that it would have required them to get new health certificates for Dunes Park and then refile Health Certificates again when they went back to Portwood Plaza. She was a little with wondering why the Frogman competition couldn't have held their pre-race vents in Dunes Park but in the end, it was easiest to just cancel the Farmers Market on the 14th. She was aware that this competition makes a lot of extra work for many of IB departments such as Fire and Public Works and she felt it best not to place any additional burdens on them because of their excellent working relationship with the City of Imperial Beach.

Seacoast Drive will be close to through traffic from Thursday, September 13th, and Sunday, September 16th.

In other City new, The Candidates Forum which is usually sponsored by the Imperial Beach Woman's Club and the IB Chamber of Commerce has been postponed from September 11th as not all candidates were available on that date. We will have that new date as soon as it is released.

The Chamber of Commerce also has a ribbon cutting event for Shawna Schenck's Yoga Studio
at 600 Palm Avenue. At this time we do not have the time of the event.

On September 27th the IB Chamber of Commerce is also holding an Elected Officials Reception at Bikeway Village on Thursday, September 27th from 4pm to 6pm.

And lastly and very importantly, we want to wish the very best to Jack Van Zandt and his new wife, Terisa Wolfe. They were married last Tuesday, August 21st if I have my dates correct.
