Sun and Sea Festival’s “Kids N’ Kastles” Teams Registration is Now Open!

San Diego County’s Largest Sandcastle Building Contest Especially For Kids Sponsored By The Optimist Club Of Imperial Beach


The Kids N’ Kastles sandcastle building contest, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Imperial Beach, is an important part of the Sun and Sea Festival that takes place on Saturday, July 14, 2018. It’s San Diego County’s largest sandcastle building contest for kids with 20 team plots (five kids per team) for children 12 years and under. Teams can register online at

On the day of the event, teams will check-in at 10 a.m. at the Kids N Kastles booth located near the Dolphin Statue in the Kidz Zone area at Dune’s Park. Each teams will be assigned a building plot and each participant will receive a free gift bag. The competition starts at Noon and ends at 1:30 p.m. Teams are encouraged to incorporate the “Superheroes in the Sand” theme into their creations.


There are two categories: Sandcastles and Sand Sculptures with a special award for team that best incorporates a Superhero idea. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place finishers. Additional drawing prizes will be awarded.
