Athletes, Teams & Coach Honored at Mar Vista High School Sports Spring Awards

The 2017-18 School Year is coming to an end and it is always a bitter-sweet moment as we are sad to see Senior go but excited for what the future has in store for them.  Here are some highlights from the 2017-18 School Year for Mar Vista Athletics:

  • We had four team champions this year: Girls Soccer, Wrestling, Boys Track, and Boys Golf
  • We had one All-CIF Team Member: Sonia Baniqued (Girls Wrestling)
  • We had multiple League Players of the Year: Niko Fugueroa (South Bay Football Defensive Player of the Year), Cesar Macias (South Bay Football Kicker of the Year), Daicy Gonzalez (South Bay Girls Soccer Player of the Year), Emily Leslie (South Bay Softball Player of the Year), Samuel Avelar (South Bay Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year), Oscar Vargas (Mesa League Boys Swimmer of the Year), Luis Godinez (Mesa League Boys Diver of the Year), Sydney Snaith (Mesa League Girls Diver of the Year)
  • We had 13 teams make playoffs, including our Girls Basketball Team who made it to the semi-finals
  • Two wrestlers made it beyond CIF competition: Sonia Baniqued (State) & Julian Winnie (Masters)
  • Congratulations to our Seasonal Players of the Year, Coach of the Year, Scholar-Athletes of the Year and Athletes of the Year (below)

 As summer creeps up, the start of Fall Sports is right around the corner in August.  Thank you for following Mar Vista Athletics. We look forward to seeing you at our games and following us next season.
