Mar Vista Baseball Team Improves to 10 and 1 with Win Over Ridgeview in Lions Tournament on Tuesday

(Editor's Note: Since this article was published the Mariners baseball team has gone 1 and 1 to make their record 11 wins vs 2 losses on the season. They went 3 and 1 in the Lions Tournament. They defeated Mt Carmel 3 - 1  but lost the next day to San Pasqualo 4 - 2.)

Jake Borst hit a 2 run home run and Elijah Burns threw 6 innings of shutout baseball to lead Mar Vista over Ridgeview 5 - 1 in the Lions Tournament on Tuesday in a game played at MVHS.

Senior, Jake Borst, hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the first inning in the Mariners game against Ridgeview and Elijah Burns, senior, pitched 6 solid innings to lead the Mar Vista over Ridgeview. Borst's home run was his second of this early season and came a day after he was the winning pitcher in Mar Vista's 2 - 1 victory over West Hills. Borst is a 3 Letter Athlete for the Mariners having also played football and basketball this year for the Mariners. 

The 10 and 1 Mariners are returning several starters to this year's baseball team besides Borst and Burns. Also returning is Eddie King and Daniel Ortiz that provided big contributions to last years team that made the playoffs. 

Here are Mar Vista's Stats (only) for their game against West Hills for their Monday games courtesy of Max Preps as reported by coaches.

Tomorrow the Mariners will take on Mt Carmel in the Lions Tournament at 2pm at a neutral site.
