Paula Hall, Sweetwater School Board Member reports that the Sweetwater School Board Approved Passing Design Work to Begin for a New 50 Meter Pool at Mar Vista High School.
Paula Said that Sweetwater's Dr. Aguirre and Principal Carreon will hold a stakeholder meeting, which will be attend by Board Member Paula Hall will be held to to discuss the plan going forward.
Said Paula Hall, Sweetwater School Board Member, "The Rumors to close pool are misleading! There is no plan to close the pool. The proposal the Board approved Monday is to design 50 meter pool in the pools current location. They are not moving it to Elm Ave. were it was shown in earlier designs. For many reasons this was the option that will be designed. Rich Cameron and Dr. Aguirre, Assistant Superintendent of Facilities and Operations, will hold community meeting to let everyone have time to ask questions.
Paula Hall went on to say, "The plan is to put it in location where pool us currently located. It will be expanding that area. The whole plan is also to give access to public without having to enter campus."
The pool has been of considerable topic in the community as it is on the older side and Mar Vista High School isn't the only high school to use the pool. Also using the pool are Southwest High, South Coast Water Polo Club, IB Swim Team plus Mar Vista Water Polo & Swim Teams.
