City of Imperial Beach 2018 Local Coastal Program (LCP) RIB Joint Study Session Wednesday, February 14th

The City of Imperial Beach invites its citizens and interested parties to participate in an update to its General Plan/ Local Coastal Program (LCP). The City completed a Sea Level Rise (SLR) study in 2016 through a grant from the State Coastal Conservancy and the San Diego Foundation. The City obtained another grant from the California Coastal Commission to translate the SLR adaptation strategies and mitigation measures to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions (that would form the basis of a Climate Action Plan (CAP)) into LCP policies. The City hired the consulting firm of AECOM to assist the City with this project.

A Community Workshop was held at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve Training Center on Thursday January 11, 2018 to obtain public comments on the draft set of amendments prepared by AECOM to the LCP that will form the basis of the revised Land Use Plan (LUP).

Members of the Joint Session will review the proposed amendments along with any comments provided by the public at the Community Workshop. The public is welcome to attend this joint study session.

The draft LCP LUP is posted on the City’s webpage link: 2018 RIB CAP/LCP/GP Update. A final LUP will be prepared by AECOM after comments have been received. AECOM will then develop the Implementation Plan (IP) that will be given another public review and the City will convene another series of public meetings to entertain input on the IP.
