Public Ceremony for Kim Emerson's "The Perfect Wave" Set for Mid December!

The Public Unveiling Ceremony with County Supervisor Greg Cox and Library and City Officials has been set for Friday, December 15th at 10 a.m.

In an interview with Kim Emerson, the artist of The Perfect Wave mural going up at the Imperial Beach Library, on Tuesday, November 14th, Kim said that she hope to have the mural completed by the end of next week but at that time no date for the ceremony had been set yet.

Said Kim, "I have had such a thrill working here at the Library this last month. Imperial Beach and the people of Imperial Beach have become very special to me." Kim said she has met the nicest people while installing her mural at the library. Said Kim, "It's probably taken me longer to put up the mural than it should have but people will see me putting it up and start chatting with me and talking about the mural." Kim went on to say that because of that she has grown to feel a closeness with the community and Imperial Beach has become a very special place to her. Said Kim, I love it when the children see me working on putting up the mural and stop to talk with me and ask questions."

Kim's husband, Dennis Reiter, has been a big part of her project as well. Not only has he been helping her install Kim's Ceramic Artwork but he has also been a big part of helping her create it. Said Kim of her husband David, "Dennis is such a huge part of this project!". Besides helping Kim with this and other projects, I had the opportunity to meet David when he was with Kim when she gave the Imperial Arts Bureau a presentation of her project and talked about her artwork through the years.
