Despite Playoff 28 - 0 Loss to La Jolla Friday Night the Mariner's Football Team Provided Exciting Year!

Friday night the Mar Vista Football Team's season came to an end as the Lost to the Vikings from La Jolla High School 28 - 0 in a CIF San Diego Division Championship Tournament Playoff game in a game played at La Jolla High School.

The Mariners held their own as they played La Jolla to a draw until halftime. But the Vikings pulled away in the second half of the game with 14 points in the 3rd quarter and again in the fourth quarter to win 28 - 0. Mar Vista had a great chance to get an early lead on their first drive of the game but the drive ended with an interception around Lo Jolla's 10 yard line and that set the tone of the game for Mar Vista.

Despite the loss and ending the season on a 4 game losing streak that saw the offense only score 3 points, the Mar Vista Mariners Football team provided an exciting year and has lots to be proud of.
After starting the season 1 - 2 and coming off a tough loss to Bonanza High School on a road trip to Las Vegas, the Mariners Football team put together a 4 game winning streak which saw them beat their rivals Southwest High School 41 - 8 and Coronado High School 34 - 10 and they are the only team so far this year to defeat the 9 - 1 University City Centurions 28 - 21. But Unfortunately for Mar Vista, they were bit by several key injuries, including the loss of their starting quarterback, Jacob Beck and after that, the Mariners could never get back on track.

I would like to "thank" Mar Vista Head Football Coach Tyler Arciaga and everyone at Mar Vista High School for the help they provided in covering the team this year!
