The public is invited to attend an upcoming Imperial Beach City Council meeting to hear an update on the Port of San Diego’s development of conceptual ideas for the Imperial Beach Pier. Port of San Diego Commissioner Dan Malcolm, Port staff and representatives of the consulting firm Civitas will present the update as an agenda item at the Imperial Beach City Council meeting on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.  The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Background: On February 6, 2017, the Port of San Diego held a public workshop at the Imperial Beach City Hall where a presentation was given on the Imperial Beach Pier. The presentation provided a brief history of the pier, its current amenities, opportunities and challenges, as well as conceptual ideas on how to activate and improve the pier experience for all user groups. More than 100 people participated in the meeting and provided input.

The Port of San Diego and Civitas then utilized the public input in developing conceptual ideas for how the pier could be improved, including both short-term and long-term ideas.

A summary of the conceptual ideas, including new illustrations of potential future improvements, will be presented at the Imperial Beach City Council meeting.
