The Green Turtle Mural was Artwork Compiled From Local & International Artists Along with about 50 Students from Bayside STEAM Academy and the IB Arts Bureau Along the Bayshore Bikeway Near 10th Street in Imperial Beach and made into the artistic mural by Todd Stands & Allen Wisely of the Imperial Beach Arts Bureau who spent Sunday installing the 300 foot long mural.
The Imperial Beach Arts Bureau was given an opportunity to produce a 300 foot long mural depicting our local Green Sea Turtle population along the Bayshore Bikeway in Imperial Beach. The mural is intended to raise awareness of these amazing animals that are living in San Diego Bay. (most people in San Diego County do not know we have resident giant sea turtles living in San Diego Bay).
The printed vinyl mural was installed along the Bayshore Bikeway in Imperial Beach near 10th St. The mural included imagery by local and International artists as well as community and student participants. There is an educational component that will inform the viewer about Green Sea Turtles. It will highlight their history, anatomy, long distant migrations and conservation efforts.
By informing and creating an appreciation of our local turtle population, we hope to foster public support through stewardship, preservation and restoration of habitat, a deeper understanding of our connectivity to our local and global natural resources as well as the joy of knowing that Green Sea Turtles are our neighbors.
