Kim Emerson's, "The Perfect Wave" Mural, for the Imperial Beach Library is Nearing Completion! Art is Something that Can't Be Rushed, From Photos of Progress You'll See it was Worth the Wait!

I spoke with Kim Emerson this week, The mosaic artist creating the mural to get installed on the wall outside the Imperial Beach Library. This is what Kim had to share with our readers: On a Timetable for Installation Kim Said, "If all goes as planned we will begin installation the week of October 30th and it should be completed before Thanksgiving!"

kim said, "I thought that I would send you a few progress images revealing how great the mosaic mural assembly is evolving for the new IB Library."

Kim went on to say, " It's in the studio on a big table, all the of the specifically cut ceramic tile and glass tile, along with broken dishes, are temporarily assembled with either tile tape or fiberglass
mesh.  All of the incorporated broken dishes, that we call “mementos”, were donated by individuals of the IB community.  We were happily surprised with all the “stuff” that was collected and donated especially for the project.  People brought us boxes and boxes of what appeared to be junk.  Low and behold, once we looked at it more closely, we discovered treasures.  Through this process, the project took on a different meaning with all of the collected mementos.  Now the mosaic mural tells an even more special story about IB.  I was so inspired I wrote a poem about this project, so here it goes:

To the great Pacific waters I seek

Deep blue colors cast by light reflecting

Absorbed by turquoise diamonds dancing

The moon’s gravity of attraction serenades

Creating energy passing in circular motion

The sun’s tide creates rays of orange

Winds blowing The Perfect Wave to me

As an invitation to ride the balance of Life

If all goes as planned (which is now Plan B!), we will begin installation the week of October 30th and it should be completed before Thanksgiving!"
