Eight Quick, Easy and Inexpensive Fixes to Help to Sell Your Home!

When you decide to sell your home, there are a lot of quick and easy things you can do that will help you sell your home faster. Buyers typically see all the details of your home and it’s a lot easier and quicker to make small fixes than big repairs. Here are some quick and easy fixes that will make a big difference when it comes time to sell your home:

1. Clean or Replace Blinds:

Everyone hates dirty blinds and they can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth. Blinds that are broken are easy to replace. They make a big difference on how people view your home. Strings that are knotted-up, wands that are missing and crooked hardware can turn off buyers. It’s a much easier sell if you go to the local store and get some replacement blinds and are a quick and easy job.

2. Squeaky Doors and Drawers:

People looking to buy a home will be turned off when they hear a door or drawer squeaking and making noise that you think nothing of. You can buy a can of silicone spray for under $10 from your local hardware store. Spray all door hinges and track of your drawers for a quick fix that will make a difference. Be sure to check each and every door and drawer in your home.

3. Expand the Free Space:

Making your home look larger helps make it an easier sell. Moving the furniture to the edges of the wall makes the areas seem larger. Put away or hide any extra furniture you may have in the home. Side tables and ottomans can crowd up an area and make it seem smaller and move furniture to the outsides of the walls and rugs. Open your blinds and drapes make the room seem larger and bring in more natural light. By replacing family photographs and works of art on the wall with mirrors to reflect light also make your rooms seem larger and more spacious.

4. Make sure all your light bulbs are working:

Potential buyers tend to flip every switch they find in the house. Be sure to check every single light bulb you have. Look in obscure or little used places like closets, hallways, over the stove, and porch lights. Lights not working can make a potential buyer believe there are problems with the electric wiring. This is important to a buyer and a cheap and easy fix for you.

5. Freshen the Air in the House:

Get a quick odor eliminating, unscented spray. Do not use candles or any scented sprays as they can set off allergies and only mask problems instead of eliminating them. Freshening the air in your home is another quick, easy, and inexpensive fix.

6. Dress up Home like a Luxurious Hotel:

Make sure all the beds are made. Fluff all the pillows on the beds and couches. Be sure to fold all blankets and towels neatly. Make sure that all floors are clean and free of clutter and do the same with shelves. Neatly arranged the bathroom counter and make sure all the trash is taken out. Put out a fresh hand towel and hand soap. This is a quick and easy fix and doesn't even cost you a penny.

7. Remove all seasonal decorations:

Out of season decorations give your house and unkempt look. Look for any seasonal lighting or decorations and be sure to remove them. Pick all dead flowers and cut the grass & clean the yard. This is another cheap fix that is quick and easy.

8. Check the Entrance to your home:

This is your chance to make a first impression. Make sure you don't have any dead or dying plants on your porch and that it had been swept clean and the doorbell is working. Make sure the door knob is clean and shines. Get a new plain doormat and make sure you have a nice looking and clean mailbox. This are inexpensive, quick, and easy fixes.

You only get one chance to make a first impression: These are all quick, easy, and inexpensive ways to insure a good first impression!
