IB Posse Takes Home "" at the 2017 US Sand Sculpting Challenge and Art Expo this Labor Day Weekend!Three man team was Leonard Gonzales Jr., Mark Durazo and Jake Meyer. The theme for the Art Expo was "Now and Then". Final decision on what to do came about a week and a half up to the day of contest. Said Matt McCoy, a member of the IB Posse, "We decided to do a Jenga theme. Calling it Every Now and Then I Fall Apart."
Per Matt, "Overall it was a great weekend. I began the pound up on Friday. Started Sculpting on Saturday for 12 hours and Sunday for 7 hours". Matt went on to say that the sculpting came down to the wire finishing last minute details. When time ran out we are our own worst critics, always seeing something that could have been fixed or done a little more. Walking around seeing other teams sculptures doubt sets in,and you start to think I don't know. This one is awesome, oh look this one is cool.
Matt said, "We were in shock when the judges announced our names for both Sculptors Choice and 1st Place for the second year in a row. There is so much talent and the competition gets better and better every year."
From Leonard Gonzales Jr.;
Thank you everyone for the congratulatory comments! Winning the two awards at the U.S. Sand Sculpting Challange is a great honor that we cherish. Any event, win or lose, is a huge team effort and our Posse team is second to none! The support from every member is valued and necessary which includes the support from or community. IB Rocks!
Let's always remember that we are small parts of a larger community that is part of a larger society. One that doesn't end at our shores and borders.
