Knockout Bullying with Flawless KO at Sports Park Recreation Center

Aug 31, 2017 05:38PM ● By Bowe Fertig

Knockout Bullying at Sports Park Recreation was a clean KO! In cooperation with HomeTeam Boxing, the Boys and Girls Club of South County had another great turnout with live music, great food, and an all-star lineup of fighters and talent. The mouth-watering food provided by George Torres and his Fuegos Grill & Catering Company kept the mood right. The cool jams by DJ Quigs kept the vibe tight. On the West Coast, these were the best youth fights. And the icing on the cake was Ring Girl Karina Heredia and Announcer Fernando Lara taking it to another height.

“All the credit goes to Xavi Castillo Ruiz as he was a key centerpiece for this event happening,” said Program Director Bowe Fertig. “He helped us hurdle some big obstacles along the way and was instrumental in bringing together all the pieces. I can promise you, on a smaller scale of events, there is no better youth sparring event west of the Mississippi,” Fertig proudly said.

There were seven gyms who had youth boxers in at least one of the 20 bouts on the day. Two gyms came as far as Arizona; the Courageous Catholics traveled from Yuma and Sparta Boxing out of El Centro. Calexico Boxing rolled out from the desert. Devil Dogs Boxing, Chula Vista Boxing, Khaoss Boxing, and HomeTeam Boxing were the local gyms who attended.

A big thanks to everyone who attended and helped make it an elite event!
