San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge Artistic Lighting Project Moving Forward with Consideration of Phase 2
The Board of Port Commissioners will consider the authorization of agreements totaling $486,000 to start Phase 2 of the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge Artistic Lighting Project.
Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017. The public portion of the Board meeting begins at 1 p.m.
Port of San Diego Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101.
Immediately following the vote, interviews will be available with Port Commissioner Marshall Merrifield, who has been leading fundraising efforts for the Port’s recently launched “Illuminate the Bay” campaign.
The San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge Artistic Lighting Project has been in the making since 2006. The Port has launched the “Illuminate the Bay” campaign, a donor-funded initiative to transform the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. The goal is to raise $10 million in private donations to be able to “flip the switch” by a target of 2019.
At the Aug. 8, 2017 meeting, the Board will consider the authorization of agreements with Caltrans and project artist Peter Fink. The approval of these agreements would initiate Phase 2, putting San Diego one step closer to creating a distinctive and timeless signature artwork for the region.
