Saturday, Mar Vista High School Athletics Teamed up with South Bay Urgent Care to Help Athletes & Sports Programs!

Saturday, Over Well Over 100 MVHS Athletes turned out, as the Mariners Teamed up with South Bay Urgent Care to Help Mariner Athletics. The $20 Fee for Physicals was Donated Back to That Athletes Sports Program at Mar Vista High School.

The program was put together by Doctors Matt & Kim Dickson of South Bay Urgent Care and  Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Tyler Arciaga from Mar Vista High School. From 7:30am to 9:30am athletes from Mariner Sport Programs came into South Bay Urgent Care to 
 get their annual physical which is required to play sports every year. Mariner athletes who were unable to make it in during that time period as still welcome to come in and participate in the program during normal business hours, 

After the athletes were done with their physicals they were given a gift bag filled with goodies. Per Office Manager Bonnie Arnold many of Imperial Beach's local businesses participated in the gift bag program for the athletes. Cookies were provided by Deb's Cookie Jar, T-Mobile provided 5 very nice beach towels for the lucky winners. Surf Hut provided stickers for 50 and providing coupons for various free items or special offers were Seaside Candy , Baskin Robbins, Rally's, Baby Cakes, Jersey Mike's Subs, SeaCoast Veterinary Group, Cow-A-Bunga, & 7 Eleven. Also, if needed, handouts were given were athletes could get free heart screening and tests for cardiac arrest. 


Helping Dr Kim Dickson & Dr Matt Dickson along with Isaac Ortega - Enbahl PA-C with the exams were the wonderful office staff lead by Office Manager Bonni Arnold and staff of (in no special order), Leticia, Tony, Maggie, and Dalila. 

I spoke with several athletes who all says they enjoyed the way this was handled and thought it made an intimidating process fun! Said Camryn Wold, a sophomore who plays Girls Volleyball, Girls Basketball, and Track & Field, " I thought it was fun, organized and nice."

Helping Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the Mariners was Katie Caggiano, Football Operations Manager. 

Mar Vista Fall Athletics will begin official practices on the following dates:

August 1st                                                
Football
Boys Waterpolo
Girls Vollyball

August 7th
Cross Country
Girls Golf
Girls Tennis
