Highlight from Friday's Mayor's Breakfast & Swim & Paddle Event

Highlight from the Mayor's Breakfast & Swim & Paddle EventA Good Time was had by all as the Mayor's Breakfast again was a big hit with the people who attended. After the Swim and Paddle around the Pier by about 200 Participates, the Mayor's Breakfast Started.
About 200 participants had just finished swimming or paddling and about 15 minutes later the Mayor's Breakfast started. Preperations were being made for the next day's Sun and Sea Festival and the crowd was finally in place to start the Mayor's Breakfast.
The IB Girl Scouts Troop 6116 were the Color Guard for the event and Amanda Robbins from Mar Vista High School kicked off the Mayor's Breakfast and Awards Presentation by singing a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.
The Imperial Beach Woman's Club was on hand for the breakfast serving hot coffee and water while students from San Diego Job Corp in Imperial Beach prepared and served the Breakfast. The IB Historical Society had a booth up and there was music by Katie & Kevin.
Dignitaries on hand and speaking at the event included Port Commissioner Dan Malcolm who introduced the Dignitaries and Honored Guests. Those included Todd Gloria, who sent a representative, SD County Supervisor Greg Cox was on hand. Greg has been a great supporter of Imperial Beach playing big roles in bring us a brand new State of the Art Library, Bikeway Village and 2 new New Buses and fixing up of the Boys and Girls Club. Also included were Senator Ben Hueso and SBUSD Board Members: Melanie Ellsworth, Chris Brown, Elvia Aguilar, Barbara Elliott-Sanders, and Cheryl Quinones. And Brian Fischbach from San Diego Job Corps. Apologies go out to anyone I missed.
Given award by Mayor Dedina were Don Spicer of the Imperial Beach Little League, Captain William E Zidbeck for his work with the Optimists, I believe it was Matt Henry who got an award as well and I apologies if I didn't get his name correct and apologies as I didn't write fast enough to catch the other names.
