The US Fish and Wildlife Service welcome's the 2017 Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) team! The YCC program is an 8-week paid summer internship for high school students. They learn biological concepts, current conservation issues, and complete numerous conservation related service projects.

This year the YCC is composed of students from across San Diego's south bay. Selected enrollees are Destiny, Alex, Julian, Angel, Michelle, and Tania. Galea Albano, who is currently earning a Master's degree in environmental education from Miami University, is this year's crew supervisor. Galea has an impressive resume in environmental education, with her first job being an interpreter for Sea World.

Galea provides environmental education to the crew at every opportunity and ensures a safe and productive summer. Projects will include habitat restoration on San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge, invasive plant removal at Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge, and trail maintenance at various locations throughout the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Welcome, and we hope you have a great summer!
