Summer Day Camp, Programs, and Free Classes Provided for Youth at Boys & Girls Club and Sports Park Recreation Center

Jun 13, 2017 12:17PM ● By Bowe Fertig

With summer vacation here, the Boys & Girls Club and Sports Park Recreation Center have put in place camps, programs, and free classes to keep you child mentally and physically active. The Boys & Girls Club at 847 Encina Ave will be holding Summer Day Camp from 6:30am-2:00pm from June 8 to July 21. If your child is a member he or she will be allowed to stay until 6:00pm at the Club site. The day camp will provide the luxury of being able to go on trips to places like Sky Zone, Lazer Tag, swimming at Mar Vista High pool, and many more. If you have a child that is interested dance, science, arts, sports, or culinary there will also be specialty camps available in those fields of interest. If your child is interested in dance, I would highly recommend he or she come and take a free class June 14 and June 21 at 2pm.

The sports camp will be held at Sports Park Recreation Center from 9:00am-2:00pm with attendees playing a variety of sports (baseball, basketball, soccer, football, dodge ball, pool, ping pong, air hockey, etc). The Center allows kids to try sports out for the first time and use the creative minds of youth to create their own sport. Last summer, the sports camp averaged 20 kids per day. If your child attends the sports camp and needs to stay past 2:00pm please speak with one of the employees and adjustments can be made.

The weekly rate for Members is $115 and $125 for Non-Members. To become a member of the Boys & Girls Club, annual membership is $40 for the individual and $60 for family. Lunch will also be provided at the camps as well.
