Let's Connect Expo2: Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Relative Caregiver Symposium, Central Region Was Held at the Jacobs Center.

The Expo was opened by County Supervisor Greg Cox and the ribbon cutting made it official.
The Main event room was filled to capacity with over 50 vendors and hundreds of visitors all focusing on the caregiver role non-traditional family members were fulfilling.  

There were three sections, each one with specific types of information:

15 Vendors handed out resource materials relating to health for all family members from children through Grandparents, healthy food and nutrition, mental health, Medi-Cal and others

Thriving:  24 Vendors offering services like 2-1-1, aging and infants, housing, work and jobs, youth and teens, YMCA, legal issues and others.

 8 Vendors supplied materals for everyone being safe and aware, County and City of San Diego, Rady's Children's Hospital, Project AWARE (human Trafficking)

There was a brochure that attendees could get stamps from four vendors in each section and receive a food bag with grape tomatoes, potatoes and carrots when leaving the Expo.  It was donated by Home Start strengthening Families and Protecting Children

There were workshops and topics were: "Managing Conflicts with Grandchildren", "Tips on Teen Communication", "Understanding Commercial Sexual Exploitation" and "Human Trafficking", and "Internet Safety"

Snacks were provided and a networking lunch.  it was a very information packed Expo and many people attended and learned a great deal.
