Navy Complex's Update Meeting Was Held Last Monday in Coronado City Council Chambers. The meeting began with information about Bridge and Strand Traffic Volume counts, which have remained consistent since construction began on the new Coastal Campus. There was a delay recorded on the day a bomb threat was suspected at the Navy Amphibious Base, which caused significant delays and traffic back-up.
The 31st Bay Bridge run/walk was presented and the event was a huge success with record numbers participating! The event generated funds for the Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). The MWR provides Quality of Life programs for our 500,000+ active duty and retired military, reservists, their family members and civilian employees who make up our San Diego Military Family. This unique 4-mile run/walk has a one of a kind spectacular panoramic view as participants made their way to Coronado's beautiful Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge. During the finish line celebration, runners received a special Finisher's Medal and event shirt to commemorate our 31st year, plus complimentary transportation back to downtown.
