The Mariners who were South Bay League Champions with an 11-1 record during league play and now have 23 wins versus 7 losses on the season had little trouble in their first-round game played at Mar Vista High School on Thursday. The offense scored all the runs they would need when they scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning. They later added 3 more runs in the 6th inning to increase their lead to 6-0, the final score of the game.

Besides pitching a great game, Abigail did well on the offensive side as well with 1 hit, 1 run scored and 1 RBI (Run Batted In). However, Junior Anna James led the Mariners offense, with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Sophomore, Emily Leslie who had 1 hits, scored 1 run, and had 2 RBIs. The Mariner had a well-balanced offense with everyone who played getting a hit except or 1 player.

Mar Vista will play La Jolla next in a game that will be played at 10am on Saturday at Mar Vista High School. La Jolla knocked off the Number 3 seed Mission Vista of Oceanside with a 3-2 victory on 3 seed Mission Vista of Oceanside with a 3-2 victory on thursday.
