The Mar Vista Mariner baseball team resumed play after their Bye week. Jr. pitcher Daniel Ortiz came in and got the last 2 outs of the game. It was a great team win as everyone contributed in the win. The Mariners downed the Matadors 11 to 3. Jr’s. Eddie King and Jake Borst continued their hitting as King went 3 for 4 and Borst went 2 for 3 including his team leading 3rd Home run of the year.
May 3 and 5 MV resumed League play and took on the Trojans of Castle Park High. Game 1 at CPH Had Jake Borst on the mound for the Mariners. The Mariners scored 4 times in the 3rd inning, but the Trojans weren’t to be outdone as they scored 4 times in their half of the 3rd inning. Game 2 was played at the MVH home field. The Mariners scored 6 times in the 2nd inning highlighted by Sr. 1st baseman Gabe Preciado’s first Homerun of the year. It was a 2 run blast over the left center field fence. The win was marred by an injury suffered by Sr. second baseman Daniel Garcia who had to be removed from the game when he and Sr. outfielder Andrew Melling collided going after a pop up between second base and right field.
