Hit Squad wins Winter/Spring Co-ed Softball League at IB Sports Park

After multiple years of attempting to win it all, Captain Jerry Moreno and his team, Hit Squad, won in convincing fashion beating previous six-time champion Heavy Hitters 21-3 in the final. Hit Squad was the No.2 seed heading into the playoffs beating Victorious Secret 15-5 in the first round and beating the No.3 seed Bat Attitudes 15-9 in the semi-final game.

The No.1 seed Heavy Hitters sponsored by Coronado Brewing Co. went undefeated through the 10-game regular season and have been the team to beat for the past few years. Managed by Tim and Autumn Collin, the Heavy Hitters finally found their match with a new crop of talent. The Heavy Hitters squeaked out a win in the first round against last place Sons of Pitches and beat their old foe The Unknowns 13-7 to reach the finals for a seventh consecutive season.

The eight-team league was as competitive as it has been the past few seasons. “It’s great to see new teams mixed with veteran teams in our league as it shows our growth and popularity as the seasons go along,” explained Program Director Bowe Fertig.

The next season will resume Tuesday April 18th. Contact Bowe Fertig at 619-934-9137 or bfertig@bgcscounty.org for league info.
