MVHS Mariner Hardballers Suffer Tough Lose to Kearney 3 - 2 for 2nd Loss of Week. JV Remains Undefeated!

Mar Vista Mariner Hardballers Suffer Tough Lose to Kearny Komets 3 - 2 on Wednesday for their 2nd Loss of Week in Grossmont Metro City Tourney. The JV Remained  Undefeated Improving to 10 - 0 on the Season and will play at Chula Vista Saturday at 1:30pm for the Championship!

Varsity Loss Follows 4 - 3 Defeat at Hands of Monte Vista Monday.

Jake Borst pitched 5 solid innings for the Mariners. After getting off to a shaky start giving up two runs in the first inning Borst shut down the Komets not allowing another run before he came out after 5 innings. The Mariners lost a chance to gain the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had a runner thrown out at the plate on a passed ball with the basses loaded and two outs. 

The Komets stretched the lead to 3 -1, scoring a run in the top of the 6th inning. The Mariners made one last attempt to come back in the bottom of the 7th inning when Jake Borst tripled and scored to trim the lead to 3 - 2. With two out and runners on first and second base with two out their rallied fizzled with a fly out ending the game at 3 - 2. 

Monday, the Mariners held a lead against Monte Vista before giving up the tying and go ahead runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to lose their first game in the Grossmont Metro City Tourney after winning their first 3 games of the tournament.

The Junior Varsity Baseball Team improved to 10 - 0 on Monday defeating Monte Vista. They will play at Chula Vista Saturday at 1:30pm. They looki to remain undefeated and win the JV level of the GMC Tournament. The JV was idle Wednesday as Kearny doesn't have a JV team.
