MVHS Lady Mariners JV Softball Team Take 2nd Place in "Monte Vista Dust Bowl Tournament"! After Losing to Sage Creek 15 - 8 they Rally and Defeat Monte Vista 18 - 8 to Take 2nd Place in Tournament.

The Junior Varsity Softball Team is lead by JV Head Coach Shirley Hermosillo. Shirley is returning to this coaching position after a 20-year hiatus. She is an Mar Vista High School Alumnus and played on their softball team. The JV team got off to a rough start in the Otay Tournament with some hard teams and stated the season winless at 0 - 4. Now they have their footing and practice under their belts, they fared well in the Monte Vista Dust Bowl tournament taking 2nd place by winning 5 out of their next six games.

Now they have their footing and practice under their belts, they fared well in the Monte Vista Dust Bowl tournament taking 2nd place by winning 5 out of their next six games

They started the Monte Vista Tournament with a 20 – 2 trouncing of Morse and followed that with a 22 2 win over Castle Park. La Jolla was next and didn’t fare any better than the two previous opponents as the Lady Mariners defeated La Jolla 28 – 0. High Tech SD put up little resistance as they lost to Mar Vista 13 -1. Sage Creek brought the Lady Mariners back to earth and snapped the Lady Mariners 4 game winning streak with a 15 – 8 win over Mar Vista. The Lady Mariners got back to their winning ways beating Monte Vista 18 – 8 to take 2nd place in the tournament and improving their record to 5-5 for the season.

Up next for the Junior Varsity softballers is a game at home on Wednesday against Montgomery.
