Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce Monthly Networking Breakfast to Feature Steve Deal of the Red Cross Volunteer Disaster Action Team, Thursday March 23rd at the Dempsey Holder Safety Center

Steve Deal, Red Cross Volunteer
Disaster Action Team
Red Cross at Work
Steve Deal has been an active Red Cross volunteer since 2015.  As a Disaster Action Team member, he frequently responds to house fires, floods, and other disasters that have displaced residents from their San Diego County homes.  The team ensures such displaced families have access to lodging, clothing and food for at least the next few days until a Red Cross Case Worker can help guide them through their recovery path.  Other Red Cross roles in which Steve serves include Disaster Duty Officer (dispatching disaster teams and other emergency Red Cross resources throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties), Canteen driver (supporting displaced groups, search and rescue teams, and others), Home Fire Campaign (installing free smoke alarms in senior and low income homes), and Speaker Bureau (delivering preparedness and other presentations to companies, community organizations, and others).

In addition to volunteering for the Red Cross, Steve is a board member and Audit Chair for the San Diego Rescue Mission.  The SDRM provides a range of recovery and assistance services for the homeless and other vulnerable members of our community.
Steve enjoys honing his public speaking skills at Hardhats Toastmasters Club, sailing, travelling, hiking and camping the Sierras, gardening, and performing tasks as a not-so-competent handyman.  Married for over 35 years, Steve and Viki have been blessed with three children and two grandchildren.
