The Boys and Girls Club of South County in collaboration with Home Team Boxing will provide at least a dozen sparring exhibitions on Saturday March 18th at Sports Park Recreation Center, 425 Imperial Beach Blvd. There will be a wide array of boxing talent stretching from the coast to Arizona. Some of the gyms that will be participating are local clubs like Chula Vista Boxing and Devil Dog’s Boxing, out-of-county gyms such as Calexico Boxing, Sparta Boxing Gym and Romo’s Boxing from El Centro, and Holy Land Fight Club and Courageous Catholic Boxing out of Yuma, Arizona.
The star-studded event will be filled with live music from DJ Daniel Gee and great food from Fuegos Grill and Catering. Some of the delectable delights from Fuegos include pulled pork sandwiches, street tacos, corn (elote), tostilocos, hamburgers, and hot dogs. The event will also be blessed with former Miss California Latina Karina Heredia as Ring Girl for the main fights and Professional Ring Announcer Fernando “Crimedog” Lara for all fights. “Home Team Boxing has been instrumental in setting up this event,” said Program Director Bowe Fertig. We are very fortunate to team up with quality people like Xavier Castillo Ruiz and Claudia Gasca who continue to have a huge impact in the local community.”
Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of South County as well as Home Team Boxing. The first fight will take place at 2 pm. Doors open at 1:30. Donations will be taking place at the door, $5 for kids and $10 for adults.
