We offer fun and educational Wildlife Day Camps year-round for kids ages 4-18. Check below to see what’s coming up.

Through animal encounters, games, arts & crafts, outdoor exploration, role play and career exploration, the world of our amazing native wildlife comes to life!  Our Wildlife Day camps are a fun and interactive way to educate kids about wildlife, conservation, and science.

Pre K – Kinder

Week 1:

Who’s New At the Zoo (new!)

March 20-22: 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
$78 (Members $70)

From reptiles to birds, to fish and amphibians, let’s take a trip around the globe and see what’s new at the zoo! Through crafts, games, and many unique up-close animal encounters, come see our new seasonal exhibit animals right here at the Living Coast!

Little Gardeners

March 23-24: 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
$52 (Members $47)

Time to get grubby as we dig into our local soil! We’ll plant seeds, press flowers and explore for worms in the compost pile, all while visiting with our local wildlife. Budding gardeners and bug enthusiasts will dig this camp!

Week 2:

Shark Bites

March 27-29: 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.IMG_5816

Sharks are some of the coolest animals around!  In this camp, we’ll “swim” like sharks, feed sharks and even (gulp!) touch a shark! Through games, crafts and up-close encounters, we’ll sink our teeth into all things shark!

1st – 3rd Grade

Week 1:

A Shark’s Tale 

March 20-24: 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Did you know that sharks have survived for millions of years! This camp is all about what they have and how they live that has helped them stick around! We will get up close, hands on, help feed and discover some of their closest relatives as we play the ultimate game of survival!

Zoo Clues (new!)

How does a volcano work? What makes rain? How do animals survive in so many different environments? Through riddles, experiments, and up close animal encounters we will be solving mysteries in the natural world!

Week 2:

Species Invaders (new!)

March 27-31: 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Do you know what species are invading our city? We need your help finding ways to bring back our local animals! Learn what strategies scientists use and what kinds of species invaders we have in the oceans, on land, and in the air!

NIU: Nature Investigative Unit IMG_5766

Tank the Tortoise has gone missing! Join a week-long investigation to help solve the mystery of his disappearance and bring him home! Well examine clues, use real forensic science, investigate suspects, and meet lots of amazing animals along the way.

4th – 6th Grade

Week 1:

Kayaks to KeepersIMG_5604

March 20-24: 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

An unforgettable experience, this camp is all about new adventures!  Campers will spend two days off site (Tuesday and Thursday) kayaking south San Diego Bay. We will master kayaking techniques, paddle out to discover what dwells in the bay and of course, HAVE FUN! Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will be on site at the Living Coast learning what it takes to work with our new visitors for our Splash of Color exhibit.  Each student will get hands on by helping our keepers feed, clean, and socialize our new critters as well as discovering the crazy ways that they use color in nature.

Week 2:

Paddle the Pacific 

March 27-31: 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

This one is all about the science of the sea! Campers will spend two days off site (Tuesday and Thursday) testing their balance while they paddle board around San Diego Bay. They will learn all about what dwells in the ocean (right below them!) through hands on feeds and encounters with some of our new critters as well as discovering what makes the ocean such as fascinating and mysterious place.

Keeper 101

Ever wondered what it takes to be a Keeper? Try it out with two days of behind-the-scenes, up-close animal experiences!
