Despite Missing Half its Team, Mariner Grapplers Excel at CIF Division 3 Championships held Saturday

Despite Missing Half its Team, Mariner Grapplers Excel at CIF Division 3 Championships held  Saturday at Brawley High School.

Despite missing half of its team due to due to injury, illness and other circumstances, the Mar Vista High School Mariner Wrestling Team managed to place 6th out of 19 teams at the CIF Division 3 Championships held Saturday at Brawley High School, In Brawley California. 

Julian and Christian Winnie both brought home the Silver for the Mariner grapplers while Nathaniel Bingham and Mathew Frith, both sophomores, qualified for The Masters Tournament  The top three placers at Masters will go to the State Tournament.

Competing for the Mariners on Saturday in Brawley were:

140.                Ricardo Flores.......... Senior
147.                Nathaniel Bingham..Sophomore

Last Saturday, in girls wrestling, Sonia Banequid brought  home a Silver Medal and qualified for the State Tournament. Melissa Sesma, and Melissa Martinez both brought home Bronze
but did not qualify for the State Finals. Sonia Banequid will compete for the Lady Mariner Wrestlers in the State Tournament this Saturday in Visalia. 

Mar Vista's Coaching Staff said  "We are very proud of our Wrestling Team and a special thanks to our Girls Coach Shyla Iokia-Murphy for the Wonderful Job she did with the girls",
