SR-75 Traffic Access To Coronado and the New Coastal Campus Discussed at Wednesday Evenings IB City Council in a Presentation By Captain Scott Mulvehill, Commander Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.

In a special presentation to the Imperial Beach City Council and Community by Captain Scott Mulvehill, traffic access on SR-75 to Coronado and the new Coastal Campus was discussed.

Captain Mulvehill explained the changes which are taking place now and in the future as the new SEAL Coastal Campus progresses to completion.  The Highway will have longer turn lane access to the NAB which will decrease delays northbound into Coronado, and also longer left turn lane access to the Coastal Campus.

It was originally anticipated that there would be a lane reduction down to one lane, but this has not been necessary and not foreseen in the future.

There is also a proposed dedicated MTS bus to deliver Navy Personnel to NAB and Coastal Campuses which will be discussed with CalTrans.  This will greatly reduce traffic on SR-75 and make for smooth travel all the way into and out of Coronado.

This was an informative and satisfying presentation alleviating questions and concerns by the Community about the traffic issues associated with the new Campus and access to both it and the NAB.

We wish to thank Captain Mulvehill and his timely presentations and keeping our Community informed about our Neighbors in the Navy and maintaining good working relationships.
