MLK Day Youth Basketball Clinic at MVHS

Jan 11, 2017 01:17PM ● By Bowe Fertig
In an attempt to have an outreach program for the youth in the area, Head Varsity Coach, Joshua Hill, of Mar Vista High School will be conducting a Youth Basketball Clinic at the new gym off Imperial Beach Blvd. The clinic is a way for the youth in the area to meet their possible future coaches and to expand and learn the fundamentals of the game.

It was is anticipated to be a good turn out, Hill's assistants Nick Baltz, Head JV Coach, and Zach Sanchez, Head Novice Coach, will also be helping in the running of the clinic along with Roman Leon, Coach Mar Vista Academy, and Bowe Fertig, Coach of Imperial Beach Charter. "The outreach program is a great way to integrate young basketball players in the area to become more familiar with what's going on at the high school level," said Fertig.

The clinic is open to any youth between the ages of 10-14. In order for the student to participate a parent or guardian must sign a waiver form. Waiver forms will be provided at the clinic but please plan accordingly if you need to fill one out on the day of the clinic. Doors will be open by 9:30 and the clinic will begin promptly at 10 am. For more info or questions/concerns you can contact Joshua Hill at

Also a special thanks to the sponsors who made this possible! Home Depot, Surf Hut, Cow-A-Bunga, Fillipi's, Big Kahuna, Katie's Cafe, Derek Jones Insurance Services, and Gary Trieschman of Pacific Realty are integral parts of the community and their involvement in the community does not go unnoticed!
