Truck Day at the Imperial Beach Food Bank Thursday.  The San Diego Food Bank delivered a large shipment of food to the Imperial Beach Food Bank.

The Increase in needy and hungry people in IB has increased the delivery of food commodities to the Broken Loaf Food Bank at the United Methodist Church in IB, as we are now serving well over 3500 people per month.  The average day we are open brings in 120 people and of those most have families of four or more people.

We are seeing an increase of people from all over the South Bay, IB, Nestor, Otay Mesa, Coronado, Chula Vista and National City.

The extra load of food and people have caused a greater need for volunteers to help unload, be runners for getting the extra cases of food from storage, bag and distribute to everyone. We welcome all help and are thankful for those who assist in every task.

We also are grateful to those who donate fruit and produce such as Camp Surf, schools, Harvest CROPS and  fresh Panera Bread.  These supplement the regular canned and dry goods from San Diego Food Bank and help to make complete meal options for the families.

If you know of anyone with fruit trees, produce or clothing to donate, please contact the Church at 619-424-5181.  Thank you.
