Imperial Beach’s Military Appreciation Day Honored All Active and Retired Military of All Branches of Service Last Saturday, November 12th
The Event which took place at Dunes Park this year instead of Pier Plaza was a huge success and had an even larger crowd than the year before and ran from noon to 4 pm.
For any military that brought their service IDs, active or retired, there were complimentary goodies, including a free beer and some businesses had deeper discounted prices for the military. There was food, drinks and a beer garden for the adults and Fun Zone set up for the children
The City of Imperial Beach the Port of San Diego, Fleet Reserve Association #289, the Chamber of Commerce all played big roles in the event as did others. The VFW 5477 and American Legion # 820 all from Imperial Beach participated along with the Imperial Beach Women’s Club Nite Owls who did Christmas Card with Children for the troops that are deployed and made close to 200 cards.
I have some great photos of the event that were given to me by Karen Odermatt of the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce and Sergio Frost of the Fleet Reserve Assc. # 289. I was ill that day and am writing from what was shared with me. If I forgot anyone I am very sorry.
