Beautiful Butterflies Were Taking Flight at a Special Artistic Event at Emerald C Gallery in Coronado this past Saturday to Benefit the Mariposa DR Foundation.

A free class was held to introduce the Mosaic Technique and then create beautiful Butterfly mosaics to be taken to the Dominican Republic for decoration of the Mariposa Center for Girls.  A large number of Coronado and Imperial Beach Community members were on hand to assist with the project and learn a very beautiful artistic motif.

Each Butterfly was a unique design based upon the artist's own concept and expression.  Every color of the rainbow were utilized and many iridescent tiles and glass beads and baubles.

I myself, was an avid participant and was totally thrilled by the experience.  I was very impressed by the reason for the class and was proud to have done my small part.  I was privileged to be seated by Doris Besikof, the famous local Artist and could observe her creativity up close.

Many thanks to our extremely talented Mosaic Designer and Teacher Jenna Raskin Morienes and Gallery Owner Penny Rothschild for their dedication to the Project and for providing a very pleasant environment to learn in. We were even serenaded by Jorge D'Soria a professional Opera Singer who was trained by Pavarotti!  I personally encourage you to Visit the Emerald C Gallery and their Sister Gallery The Ruby P and take a class and marvel at the works displayed.  The next Mosaic Class will be conducted October 15th, and for more information contact
