Valerie Acevez took office as the new Presidents for the Imperial Beach South Bay Kiwanis 2016/2017 Year, Valerie lead her First Meeting Tuesday and Valerie had some great ideas!
A Big "Thank You" to Pastor Doug Jones who serves last year as President. We know Valerie will do a Great Job as President.Valerie is a proud grandmother and has put in a lot of work helping the community. She has been especially helpful in the Kiwanis and this year set up the Sock Hop for October 8th.
She ran for City Council 2 years ago and really cares about the safety of our children.
Valerie led her first meeting on Tuesday and promised to try and make things more fun for everyone and to try and balance out the Kiwanis 2 main tasks of Fundraising and Service,
Valerie also said that she is planning more events out in the community.
Congratulation Valerie, we know you will do great!
And while we are on the topic of great, Tina Blinsman won the award for "Kiwanis of the Year" for 2016. Tina was responsible for getting the Tuesday "Night Meeting" started which takes place the third week of the month at Marcos from 6 to 7 pm. Tina also brought in the idea and got the program going for the "Free Little Library Project". A project designed to improve literacy for the children in the community and was responsible for bringing in the most new members last year. Congratulation Tina!
