Never in Imperial beach has there ever been a park that is more of a park of the people than the IB Peoples Park at the corner of seacoast and date Avenue. Thanks to the help of 4Walls International, de Mello Design, Todd the incredible statuary and turtle design Artist and Roughouse Media, the additions and park features just keep growing and improving.
Many Community Organizations were also present, the IB Healthy Grocery Initiative (Kim Frink, Ramon Chairez, Marey Stone, Annie Kirsner), Harvest CROPS (Linda Heath and Karen Clay) K-Pasta (Annie Kirsner and associates), which brought food for the volunteers, Mayor Serge Dedina and representatives from just about ever organization in IB as well as the massive turnout by the community.
An astounding Banner was unfurled and hung on the back fence of the Park and never the likes of it has ever been seen in Imperial Beach before! It was brilliantly colored like the sea and had many sea creatures depicted. It contained the names of many local residents who had contributed to the development of the Park. Thanks to the efforts of Allen Wiseley for a phenomenal job!
The ongoing projects near completion and many of the multicolored statuary Mosaics are absolutely gorgeous! The pathways are getting smoother and well defined, the recycled plastic bottle benches are developing rapidly with each group of volunteers working with a heightened sense of camaraderie and Community spirit.
The Park is an ongoing project and will feature classes in all of the architectural design features of rock formation, bench building, statuary and mosaic art. Other courses will be forthcoming. This park is to be used by the community for many group activities, meetings story times, games, Community get togethers and the list is endless with so many possibilities. Let's continue to come out and participate and make this People's Park the best it can be for everyone!
