Socks for Stand Down continues – Help our veterans!
We received such a great response to our collection drive to help San Diego's homeless veterans that we are continuing to collect new socks and other under garments for Stand Down.
Stand Down provides shelter and vital services for veterans in need and we would love for you to join us in supporting them. It's easy to donate and a great way to show homeless veterans that people remember their service and want to assist them.
You can donate to Socks for Stand Down at collection boxes throughout my district, in:
- San Diego: La Jolla/Riford, Mission Hills, North Park, Point Loma and University Heights library branches.
- Del Mar, Imperial Beach and Solana Beach – community libraries.
- Coronado – the community recreation center.
You can also give donations to my staff at the local community and business meetings they regularly attend, or bring them to my district office, 1350 Front St., Room 6054, during business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Socks for Stand Down collection continues through July 8, and socks will be given to Veterans Village of San Diego, which runs Stand Down, and handed out to veterans from July 22-24.Warmly,
Toni G. Atkins
