WildCoast and Volunteers remove Fence that has been Blight on Bayfront area Wednesday afternoon. The Fence was on 500 block of 12th Street. IB Mayor Serge Dedina was there with 3 others from the City with Wildcoast, Surfrider and the US Army being represented.
Showing up to remove the fence on 12th St was Imperial Beach Mayor and Wildcoast President Serge Dedina, IB City Manager Andy Hall as well as Ed Vea and Stewart Mckay were there from the City also.
John Holder was there from Wildcoast and Mark West represented the Surfrider Foundation at the fene removal. Also participating in the fence removal was Sargent Alper Kontente (US Army) and two future soldiers Daniel and Wbaldo Arellano.
The old fence stretched about 50 feet and the poles that were holding it up were planted very deep and it took Mark West getting a jackhammer and use of a neighbors electrical socket to get the posts out.
The fence was extremely heavy and it took all the efforts of 3 meant to get it loaded in the truck. Everyone their WORKED. There were NO CUSHY JOBS. Only once all the hard work was done did Serge Dedina start going through the lot and picking up all the trash.
With everyone working hard there was one big plus and that was they had the project completed in an hour.
